The Phantasie Project

About

About this site

Who runs this site, how to reach me, what the site is and is not, and what it records about your visit.

Who runs it

I am Justin, and I have been a fan of Phantasie III since it came out in 1987. I live in Australia. This is a personal project, run in my own time, not a company. Why it exists is told on the story page.

Get in touch

You can write to me at xarn@phantasieproject.com.

I would be glad to hear your memories of playing the game, corrections to anything on this site, and questions about how the game works. If you hold rights in the game and something here concerns you, write to me and I will fix it.

What this site is, and what it is not

This is a fan project about how the 1987 Amiga game Phantasie III: The Wrath of Nikademus works. It tells what I found inside the original program, and how I know.

There is no game here. The site offers no downloads and no game files, sells nothing and carries no ads. The pictures are captures from my recreation of the game, a few to a page, each no larger than one Amiga screen.

Phantasie III was made by SSI (Strategic Simulations, Inc.) in 1987. Phantasie is the trademark of the current rights holders (SNEG). This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by SSI or the current rights holders. The game itself is still sold.

My part and Claude's

I have done this work with Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. The direction and the decisions are mine, and so are the memories of 1987 and the ear and the eye that check every sound and every screen against the original. Claude did much of the reading of the original program and much of the building, the recreation and this site among it, and drafted much of the writing here, which I rewrite in my own words. Whoever did the reading, nothing counts as found until it has been read in the code and seen to happen when the original code runs.

Credits

This project stands on the work of people who looked inside the Phantasie games before me. They are named, with links to their work, on the story page under The work this stands on.
